Medical Studies in Germany

Germany is known for its strong healthcare and medical education system. Students interested in medicine should understand that studying medicine in Germany follows a different structure from a conventional BSc or BTech bachelor’s programme.

Medical studies leading to work as a doctor are generally associated with a State Examination, rather than a conventional bachelor’s degree. Medicine is also subject to strict admission requirements and nationwide admission restrictions because of the high demand for places.

Students interested in medical education should therefore carefully check:

  • Academic eligibility
  • Recognition of previous qualifications
  • German language requirements
  • Admission restrictions
  • University-specific requirements
  • Entrance and selection procedures
  • Recognition and licensing requirements after graduation

Our counsellors can help students understand the available pathways and identify programmes according to their academic profile.
